Honorary Professor: Ana Marušić Ana Marušić has been made an Honorary Professor in the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine She is Professor of Anatomy and Chair of the Department of Research in Biomedicine and Health at the University of Split School of Medicine, Split, Croatia. ![]() She received her MD and PhD degrees from the University of Zagreb, Croatia. Professor Marušić also teaches university students the principles of research methodology and scientific communication. Her primary research interest is focused on the interactions between the immune and bone systems. Her research interests also include peer review and research integrity. Professor Marušić is the founder of the Croatian branch of the Cochrane Collaboration and creator of the Croatian public registry of clinical trials. She is on the Steering Group of the EQUATOR Network, an international initiative for promoting transparent and accurate reporting of health research. She has been the editor in chief of the Croatian Medical Journal for 20 years, and is now editor in chief of the Journal of Global Health. Professor Marušić has been the President of the World Association of Medical Editors and Council of Science Editors. Warm welcome to Professor Ana Marusic 26 August 2010 The EQUATOR Network Steering Group is delighted to welcome Ana Marusic as its new member. Ana brings with her valuable expertise in medical research and extensive experience in research publication. This, combined with Ana’s great interest in teaching the principles of good scientific communication, will be a great asset in particular in furthering the development of EQUATOR’s training and education programme. Brief biography ![]() Prof. Marusic has published more than 150 articles in peer reviewed journals. Her primary research interest is focused on the interactions between the immune and bone systems, but also on peer review and medical educational. Apart from teaching anatomy, Prof. Marusic teaches university students the principles of research methodology and scientific communication in a mandatory undergraduate course. She is the co-author of a textbook "Principles of Research in Medicine," (first edition in 1996), now published both in Croatian and English. Prof. Marusic is an active member of the Croatian branch of the Cochrane Collaboration, Chair of the Board of the Croatian Institute of Global Health, and creator of the first Croatian public registry of clinical trials.
