(E) Looking for a bone marrow match - please read

ÂLooking for a bone marrow match - please readPlease feel free to email Iva Turudic at ivaturudic@hotmail.com with any questions.Jakov and Nevenka Turudic of London, Ontario, along with theJezerinac family of Mississauga, Ontario, is reaching out to theCroatian community at a time of great need for Robert Jezerinac, who is engaged to Iva Turudic, daughter of Jakov and Nevenka Turudic. Robert hasLeukemia and will need a bone marrow transplant in order to have a fighting chanceto beat his cancer. His doctor has suggested that his best chance at finding a bonemarrow match may be among those of the same ethnic background. Many people have asked if a private clinic will be held to test peopleas a possible match for Robert. Unfortunately, these types of clinics are nolonger done in Canada as they were years earlier. Some people may have beentested previously, however, they may not be on the registry. We ask those peoplewho have participated in a bone marrow drive in years past to contact CanadianBlood Services to ensure that they are still on the registry. You can contact Canadian Blood Services at 1-888-2-DONATE(236-6283) or you can register directly online athttp://www.bloodservices.ca (click on âJoin the Bone Marrow Registryâ€?) or ifyou live in the U.S. please visit the American Bone Marrow DonorRegistry at http://www.abmdr.org It will cost you nothing and it only takes a few moments of your timeby getting your blood tested. This could potentially save Robertâs life, andgive him and his fiancÃ, Iva Turudic, the chance to marry and live the life theyâvedreamed of together. If you are between the ages of 17-50 please register as aBone Marrow Donor. We are asking our Croatian community to come together in this timeof need. This could be your opportunity to save a personâs life. Pleaseshow Rob, his family, and the Turudic family your support by taking the time toregister. This could happen to any of us and only by the generous and selflesssupport of others can Rob have a chance at life.If you have any questions in regards to becoming a Bone Marrow Donor, pleasecontact Canadian Blood Services, the American Bone Marrow Donor Registry ore-mail Iva Turudic at: ivaturudic@hotmail.com Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.Thank you,Marija Pavic

Beyondthat, I hope to eventually make my home in Croatia. I've grown weary ofAmerican life and want to live where there is history, culture, architecture and natural beauty surrounding me at all times.Mainly, I just wanted to say 'hello' to this group in this post, but also tolet Croatian artists, musicians, writers, photographers and other creativetypes that I would like to meet you when I'm in your country. I'll bedividing my time between Dalmatia, Zagreb and Budapest until I can find apermanent home and establish Croatian residence. As for my writing, I seekto promote Croatian art, music, cuisine and tourism through a variety ofarticles to be published onmy website, in English-language print publications, and in my own bookprojects. I've grown fond of every Croatian I've met in my hometown, and Ican't wait to be in the country itself, surrounded by the culture.Musicians, artists, photographers: There's a chance I'll want to write aboutyou and your work - or even collaborate on projects - so get in touch withme.Ucim hrvatski jezik, ali jos govorim malo.
(H) Trazi se biznismen iz Osijeka

ÂTRAZI SE BIZNISMEN IZ OSIJEKA Osijek, 16.08.2005.g. TRAZI SE BIZNISMEN IZ OSIJEKA Prije oko desetak dana izdao sam knjigu 'Imam ideju za posao! Sto Sada?' Prva knjiga iz edicije BB - Biti Bolji (Be Better), namijenjena malim i srednjim poduzetnicima. 31000 Osijek, Stonska 14 Telefon 00385 31 243 204, mobitel 00385 91 767 5 999 e-mail: cikla@net.hr Â

It is about a completely new product, a revolutionary way of communication between Istria and the emigrants - it is an electronic monthly newspaper. From now on and throughout the numerous columns such as news, sport, culture, cuisine, youth, amusement, etc., all the emigrants from all over the world will have an opportunity to learn about the latest events in their homeland as well as to be educated about the history and tradition of Istria. On the other hand, the second and the third generations will have an opportunity to learn language and customs. "My Istria" is "a small professional TV of Istria" in the emigrants' homes. Passing throughout the stories, reportages, interviews and interesting items in a potable video-audio combination lasting about two hours, Istria will no more be far away for anybody. It is especially interesting that the complete product will be translated into English language, so all those who have problems with understanding Croatian language will be able to follow the program. Through these pages, "My Istria" is accessible for anybody in the world, so it is possible to order own copy of the DVD through our link. The rest of the news from Istria will be involved in a form of specially created video pages. ________________________________________________________________ In a stage of preparation is a special, this years first issue of My Istria, which is published on January 19 and brings the following: Interview: Stipe Drvis European Boxing Champion; Sandra Mofardin: The Queen of Europe; Holidays Shopping; Istrian Christmas Customs; Istrian Pearls: Ćićarija; Istria Today: Istrian Monthly Magazine; Holidays Well-Wishing: Ivan Jakovcic; Vernes Mathias Sandorf in Pazin; Cuisine: Scampi Tails With Prosciutto; NOLA: The Famous Pulas Band; 9th Book Fair in Istria; Visnjan Observatory; Filmmakers of Labin; Istrian Sports in 2003; Morning Paintbrush: Wood Stealers; Josip Broz Tito Still Lives in Labin; Santa Claus Has Come to Istria; Istrian Fashion Designers on the Show in the Opatijas Kvarner                      1st issue Story About the Truffle Fair in Livade IBM Forum in Rovinj The Biggest Tie in the World Around the Arena in Pula Interview With Livio Morozino Delicious Morsel of Istria Team Building for Croatian Politicians Craftsmen's Fair in Pula Sport Successes The Morning Paintbrush Hum - A Pearl of Istria Hand made festival The Ecological and Fishing Zone etc.                  Moja Istra - istarski DVD magazin Izdavač: MedVid produkcija d.o.o., Valturska 33, 52100 Pula Hrvatska Tel: +385 52 501 048, Fax: +385 52 384 948 www.medvid.hr, www.mojaistra.comMedVid d.o.o Tel: +385 (0)52 501 048 Fax: +385 (0)52 384 948 GSM: ÂÂRobert Kralj +385(0)98 608352 ÂÂBoris Plastic +385(0)98335618 ÂÂZoran Milosavljevic +385(0)98576309 Valturska 33 52100 Pula HrvatskaÂÂ

ÂOld Castle in the Heart of Croatia. 200,000 eurosÂAdria Mare d.o.o. Specializing in authentic Croatian homes, island and sea frontproperties. For Sale:Old Castle in the Heart of Croatia. 200,000 eurosBuilt in 1780. Located in Bedekovcina Donja. 46km from Zagreb. 500m2on a magnificent 2500m2 property. Property is connected to all communalities...water...electricity.. etc...and all operational. Private residence or some type of hospitality project. Telephone me on 385 91 2707561 for further information or email me at amatesic@arazu.com .Old stone farm on the island of Vis. 120,000 euros The farm is abandoned...several stone structures high on a hill, overlooking the sea, absolutely glorious, set on 8500m2, where the 40,000m2 rural land adjoining the property belongs as if to the property (but is not, basically municipal land), 3 km from sea. Ideal for restoration as a private residence or some type of hospitality project (meditation centre comes to mind).I encourage Croatians who are in the position of being able to invest to buy property in Croatia now as it is only getting more expensive and opportunities like the above are very hard to find especially at such a decent price.Other similar properties can be found, but sometimes the search for a property meeting your specific criteria will take time as the real estate market here is still relatively immature and locating prime reasonably priced properties, then investigating ownership and property rights takes quite a bit of effort and time. Also its getting harder and harder to find 1st row to sea building size lots of land that are zoned for construction. Really a needle in a haystack type of problem. Your best bet is to find an existing house and rebuild or remodel. Old seaside village property is still doable but one is limited by the smaller size of the properties. One can find more modern type properties but these are typically overpriced if on a decent property.Jadranka MatesicAn Australian/American Croatian Returnee

Seeking Work in Croatia American journalist and educator seeks work in media or education in Croatia. Previous experience as a teacher and journalist in Croatia. Basic Croatian; good Italian, French and Russian. Master's degree from Cambridge University UK. Please contact via email atmeowmacka@yahoo.com Thank you. I hope that's the correct format. As for your site, I think you're doing a good job. I might add a few sites to your global media watch section. I can email those to you if you like. Also, I see that a couple of your links, such as "The Truth About Croatia" and info on scholarships aren't active. I like the tone of your site. It's lively and manages not to get dogmatic. Some other Croatian sites/groups I have looked at seem to get very political (and in my opinion sometimes fanatic) very quickly.I was interested to read your bio, too. Your experience as a recording artist and composer is really, really impressive.Have a great time in Europe! All best wishes,JoscelynÂmeowmacka@yahoo.comÂ

ÂU potrazi za prihvatljivim smjestajemÂLooking for affordable accommodations in the USA(English version at the end)Postovana gospodo, lijepo Vas molim za nekoliko informacija. Zovem se Zlatko Greguric, studentsam financija i informatike na Sveucilistu u Zagrebu. Ovo ljeto provest cu uSADu, radeci i putujuci vecinom po zapadnoj obali. Imam studentsku J-1 vizukoja mi dozvoljava legalan rad, a najprije cu raditi u Montani gdje vec imamposao. Medutim, svakako zelim proputovati i ostale drzave, a to ovisi o tomehocu li naci odgovarajuci smjestaj. Velika hvala unaprijed! Lijep pozdrav izZagreba.S osobitim stovanjem,Zlatko GreguricÂzgregur@net.hrÂDear Sir or MadamI kindly ask you for a few information. My name is Zlatko Greguric, I am astudent of finance and computer science on University of Zagreb. I willspend this summer in the USA, by working and traveling mostly on the westcoast. I have a student J-1 visa that allows me to work legally, and for startI will work in Montana where I already got a job. But, I definitely want tosee and travel through other states as well, but that depends on finding appropriateaccommodation. Considering that housing is the greatest cost, I decided to lookfor some decent and cheap accommodation in advance, and afterwards to find a job in that areaÂI kindly ask you for help information or advice: where/how could I findsome cheap accommodation for two persons (my girlfriend is traveling withme, she's also a student) in any state this summer? So, I'm looking foran accommodation for 20-60 days (I'm not sure yet) in August and September. And advice is more than welcomed. Thank you very much! Nice greetings fromZagreb.Yours faithfully,Zlatko GreguricÂzgregur@net.hrÂ

(E) City maps of Vukovar, Djakovo, Osijek needed

ÂLooking for city maps of Osijek, Djakovo, andVukovar.Hi Nenad--Thanks for your continued hard work in keeping the CROWN home-page one of theÂmost interesting and eclectic on the Web. I so enjoy reading it!ÂThanks for the recommendation of Tony Fabijancic's travel book about Croatia.ÂI have already ordered one from amazon.com. There are so few good books ofÂthat sort about Croatia and neighboring countries. I am jumping at theÂchance to read a new one. Have you heard of "Eyewitness Travel Guides:ÂCroatia,"? It's a beautiful travel guide with full-color photos,Âintroduction to the history and culture of Croatia, touring information aboutÂCroatia by area, traveler's needs when traveling there, and "survivalÂguide." It was published just this year by Dorling Kindersley, Ltd., (DKÂPublishing) in England. I picked one up at my local Barnes & NobleÂbookseller. I love it! It brings out all the beauty of Croatia in anÂeasy-to-use book for first time or repeat travelers. It has wonderful tipsÂon what to see in many cities, shopping, eating, culture, etc. Your readersÂwould enjoy it.May I ask you a small favor? Do you have any suggestions where I might getÂsome maps of cities in Croatia besides the usual tourist ones (Zagreb, Split,ÂDubrovnik)? I am looking for city maps of Osijek, Djakovo, andVukovar, ifÂyou know of any website or store that might sell them. I have country mapsÂof Croatia in English and German, but they focus on the highways that connectÂthe cities and not the cities themselves. Let me know if you have any ideas. Thanks again for your hard work on the CROWN web-site.Svako dobro,Diane MahoneyÂDianemmahoney@aol.comÂÂOp-edPlease contact Diane, if you have an access tot he maps or ifyou know the Internet address for the same.NBNenad--Thanks so much for your help. The towns I want are relatively "obscure" in the grand scheme of touring and tourism, I guess! But there has to be a place, in English or Hrvatski, where I could find something. Isn't that the beauty of the "world wide web"? I don't care if the website is in Hrvatski; it would be good practice for me in my fledgling study of the language to find something there! And street names are the same or close whatever the language.I am writing this at work and don't have access to the book I told you about.ÂI know there isn't one author--it's put together by what looks to me like a group of Italians who produced it and took the photos. But it's obviously aimed at a British audience since it's written entirely in English. One thing I like best about it is how current it is. It refers to war damage and problems in some regions of Croatia, of course, but really highlights the positive aspects of Croatian culture and the places for tourists to visit everywhere, even Eastern Slavonija and Vukovar (the city museum apparently is re-opened now).My other tour books were written two or three years ago and are outdated for some parts of Croatia now. They tend to say, "stay away from this or that region--war damage and land mines!" That is NOT the impression Croatia needs to present to the world, especially the tourism sector. It's not true, anyway--I was in Vukovar two years ago and yes, there is war damage and there are land mines if you aren't careful, but there is also much rebuilding, and some beautiful sights to see (Bishop Strossmeyer's cathedral in Djakovo immediately comes to mind) in the nearby vicinity. This new book I found emphasizes the latter, to very positive effect.I have to stop and get back to work. Thanks for your prompt response. I do appreciate it.Diane Mahoney

(E) Easy Rider, Croatian Style Houston, TX -- Seattle, WA

ÂEasy Rider, Croatian Style Houston, TX -- Seattle, WAÂÂÂHi,I am writing to let you know about my whereabouts over the next few weeks. I am going on a motorcycle trip that will take me from Texas to Washington in a period of three weeks. The trip starts in Houston, TX (map enclosed) and it will take a place in two legs. On Sun Feb 2nd 2003 in Houston TX, I will pick up a '00 black&chrome Suzuki LC 1500 that I bought (see the photo below), load it with necessary stuff and drive into a sunset. I plan to spend a night in Austin, TX. Next day (Mon, Feb 3) hopefully reach El Paso, TX, and then end the first leg on Tue Feb 4 in Tucson, AZ (while making a stop in Tombstone, AZ. Wouldn't miss OK coral place for millions). In Tucson, AZ I'll remain for 2 weeks, working on a horse ranch, riding and training horses, and on Tue Feb 18 I'll head west toward CA coast, making a stop in Yuma, AZ (famous prison), trying to reach San Diego by nightfall. The next day, Feb 19, I'll drive through Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and overnight in Big Sur. Following morning, Feb 20 is San Francisco, Sonoma and Napa wine countries (hopefully visit the famous Grgich vineyard). I'll try to get as far north that afternoon as possible, for the next day (Feb 21) I'll have a long ride to Salem, OR (500+ miles).
(E) Immigration Law Services

Distributed by CroatianWorldÂImmigration Law ServicesThank you for the opportunity to post this letter regarding my immigration law services on your web-site. I am a partner in a law firm in Sacramento, California that defends immigrants before the INS and immigration courts. My office helps people get green cards through family andfiancé petitions, and visas for visitors and students. We also help people with U.S. naturalization applications. We handle deportation defense in the San Francisco immigration courts, and asylum applications at the San Francisco Asylum Office. I have over fifteen years of experience working with immigrants from all over the world.U.S. immigration law has become much more complicated and difficult in the last few years, especially after the events of September 11, 2001. The INS is undergoing tremendous changes as it is absorbed into the new Department of Homeland Security. It can be very helpful to an immigrant to work with someone who knows how to navigate the system. I am available for pre-paid telephone consultation appointments from anywhere in the U.S. for a flat fee of $100.00 for an hour. My firm can handle in-person legal representation of clients who are residing in Northern California.I have had a long-time interest in the history and culture of Southeastern Europe, especially Croatia and Bosnia. Itraveled there in 2001 to visit all of the major cities of Croatia, as well as Sarajevo and Mostar. I plan to return to Croatia in summer 2003. I would like to work with more clients from Croatia and Bosnia. I appreciate your giving me the chance to reach out to them through your web-site.Sincerely,Diane MahoneyMAHONEY & NIKOLENKO1007 7th Street, Suite 616Sacramento, CA 95814phone: 916-448-1866fax: 916-446-9288e-mail: dianemmahoney@aol.comÂ

(E) Dive Franetovic tickets proposal

Distributed by CroatianWorldÂTo all interested Croatians in the New York area!To all interested Croatians in the New York area!A few days ago I posted an announcement about Croatian flutist DiveÂFranetovic who will be playing in Carnegie Hall as part of the IBLAÂFoundation's international competition. The ticket prices were very,Âvery expensive! Since then I have made some telephone calls and may haveÂa solution if we work quickly.Because Dive is a friend and because I called the IBLA Foundation, theyÂsent me a private invitation. On the invitation is a blank forÂdonations. I have been told that I can request any number of tickets forÂhalf price this, for friends and family. I consider any CroatianÂcoming to this concert to be a friend!I will request balcony tickets for $25 (much better!) for as many asÂwould like to come. I need to know who would like to attend this concertÂso that I know what to ask for. There are not many balcony seats (maybeÂ40) in Weill Auditorium, so I am asking interested people to respondÂquickly. If I have promises from people that they want to attend this concert toÂcheer Dive on, I will make the "donation" on my credit card. As soon asÂI have the tickets, you can send a check to me and I will send theÂtickets to you. I trust you all !!!The information again: Dive Franetovic plays on March 3 (a Monday night)Âat Weill Auditorium, which is in Carnegie Hall, at 6:30 p.m. It is herÂfirst trip to America and you will feel so proud! I feel very lucky toÂhave met her and her family! My email is: lordlord@siu.edu . I will wait until January 30 before doinganything.Hvala vam, Suzanne Lord

(E) Authentic Croatian Folk Tale Needed

ÂAuthentic Croatian Folk Tale NeededÂI need some help from fellow Croatians. Our school is part of an international program, and as a result each school coordinator has to come up with an authentic folk tale from a specific country. Knowing I was Croatian (and resourceful), my school decided that they would commit to coming with a Croatian folk tale. Of course, they just informed me yesterday and want something quick. The international officials made it clear they don't want a folk tale simply found on the Internet. They want something authentic and from Croatian people. If you know of any, please send them along to me. There must be something you can recall from childhood that is strictly part of the Croatian culture. Thanks,Nancy AndjelichNancyM3292@aol.com

Samobor is recognized world-wide for its 180-year-old tradition of crystal glass craftsmanship. Although the crystal industry was temporarily halted during the war in Croatia, "Kristal Tuk" has recently begun to produce crystal in Samobor once again. In August, 2001, Pam and Melissa, Proprietors at "Heart of Croatia" Gifts watched in awe as artisans from "Kristal Tuk" hand-cut very fine crystal in their small shop. Each and every piece is specially cut by one of these Master Craftsmen.                                                         Andjeo Cuvar (Guardian Angel)"Heart of Croatia" introduces these adorable "Andjeo Cuvar" pins as a way for Croatians to wear their national colors in the form of a Guardian Angel pin. Croata neckties are reputably the top quality in the tie industry in the world. Croata neckties come from the Homeland of the Cravats: CROATIA! Authentic Croata ties are packaged in a protective, plastic wrapping, and come with an elegant (gift) tie box which says, "Homeland of the Cravats" on one side and "Domovina Kravata" on the other. The secret behind the popular "Grb" design, (which is found on this handsome Croata tie), comes from the Croatian national coat of arms. The origin of Croatia is tied closely to the East where several nations designate the cardinal points with the corresponding colors: black (north), red (south), white (west), and green, or clear blue (east). In the Croatian coat of arms, historians recognize the ancient southwestern area of Europe known as Croatia. Today this attractive and colourful combination of squares is a worldwide hit in Croatian fashion.ÂWe offer this Croata tie to you in several colors: Silver/Gray (only 1 left), Black/Silver Gray, Christmas Red/Silver Gray, and Navy Blue/Silver GrayÂTo order our ties, go directly to: http://croatiagifts.safeshopper.com/115/cat115.htm?277 Please visit "Heart of Croatia" Stores on-line at www.croatiagifts.com.
(E,H) Room in New York to rent / share under $15 a day

New York bedunder $15a day ?Cura iz Splita treba malu pomoc! A girl from Split needs help!ÂFrom:kjurasin@hotmail.comHi!I will write in English, that way I will know for sure you'll understand me...My name is Karmen, I am 28 yrs old, I am from Split and currently working onÂa cruise ship as a youth counselor. We sail Caribbean's. My contract isÂsoon over and I have no plans to come back. So now is my only chance toÂvisit USA. I decided to go to New York for a month. Of course, I need aÂplace to stay.. I have been surfing Web for weeks...Hotels are far tooÂexpensive for me, hostels don't look like a good idea for such a long stay,Âso I decided that the best thing is to rent a room/bed in someone's home.ÂJust looking for that has been an adventure for itself...I am trying to findÂa cheap, safe and warm place as near as possible to the center of Manhattan.ÂThat way I could save time and money being able to walk to the most sights IÂwant to visit. And as I am planning to see as many Broadway shows as I can,ÂYou can imagine that I will need every saved penny...Anyway, I have been trying to find that perfect room in all sort of ways,Âthis being one of them...I found your addresses at CROLINKS. I feel muchÂsafer asking someone from Croatia for a favor, you know how it is...What I am hoping for is to find a place to live for one month for $15 orÂless per day (rent and everything else included). I don't mind sharing a room,Âbut I'd prefer a female roommate. I already booked a room in a hostel forÂthe first two nights, 08 and 09 of September. I am flying back to Split onÂOctober 08.If you can help me or you know someone else who can, I would be sooooo grateful!!Please email me back even with any little information.Thank you.Karmenkjurasin@hotmail.comÂOp-edI came across many people who visited New York and have the same problem. It would be nice if we (Croatian community of New York) organized - Smjestaj (privremeni)- for Croatians who visit out city. It could be in Astoria, Manhattan or New Jersey. Or have an agreement with the existing facilities that canaccommodate our people. I know it is a major project, but I see it as even beingprofitable for all the parties. We do not know who Karmen is, but in general weshould help our people as much as we can. Is there someone who can take her fora week and see how it works? Hvala.Nenad BachCROWNletters@CroatianWorld.netÂ

(E) Announcing Traditional Lace from the Island of Pag!

Announcing: Traditional Lace  from the Island of Pag!               During the summer of 1979, Pam Kelley and Melissa Obenaufhad the privilege of living on the island of Pag for a short period of time while they were studying dance andfolklore through the Ljetna Skola Folklora. The idyllic town of Pag with its centuries' oldbuildings, juxtaposed against the azure blue of the Adriatic Sea and the white stone, formed deep andlasting impressions on the two women. They saw many of the women of Pag sitting outsideof their houses, engaged in the art of making lace---exquisite lace which is renownedthroughout the world, lace that has been referred to as comparable to or even better than, thefine lace of Brussels. This "needle lace," which it is also known as, is made on a small, blackcushion with ordinary mending needles. It is always geometrical, and it is always created without adraft or plan, making each piece unique and different, the product of the lace-maker'simagination. Each piece of this lace requires endless hours to make, an unending reserve of patience, akeen eye, and steady hands. Each lace-maker first defines a small circle, and tiny holesare then made that are situated several millimeters apart. The thread is then pulled through each of the littleholes, and 8 thread sticks are then spread diagonally across the pillow. After the base or circle isset, then small circles and triangles (called "mendulice") are created outward from thiscenter. Pag lace is characterized by its firmness; in fact, it seems as if it is starched---and itdoes not lose this firmness upon washing it. Our exquisite lace from the island of Pag is presented underglass against a dark background and is framed, ready to hang. We also include a description of the art of Paglace-making on the back of this framed work of art. Visit us at www.croatiagifts.comÂto find out more about this new item at our webstore!
(E) OPORTUNITY - Croatian American Makes Film

Dragi Hrvati,I am reaching out to you with the hope that you willbe able to contribute your many resources and talentstowards a project I am working on.ÂCurrently, I am obtaining my B.F.A in Film andTelevision Production, with an emphasis in Writing andDirecting, and have decided to make a film in Croatiafor my senior project. It will be a short filmsummarizing and highlighting the themes taken from afeature length screenplay I am developing. Adocumentary will subsequently follow the film."A coming of age in the midst of social turbulence,"Cinematographer Mark Parry, on the story. In summary, it is the heartwarming and inspirationaltrue story of a young man's flight from Communismafter World War II. The story is based it off of theevents that occurred in my parent's lives while theywere growing up in Yugoslavia during the 1950's. Itrace my father's incredible, painstaking journey tofreedom, from his early childhood in Croatia throughhis eventual teenage escape to Italy and ultimatelyAmerica, where the recent familiar events of the early1990's are revisited. Courage, faith, and anoverwhelming desire for freedom in the face ofdespair; these are the tokens of this moving saga andcelebration of culture, democracy, and human rights.ÂSpecifically, I am looking for contacts within theindustry that may be able to offer support in variousaspects of the production, such as period research forset and costume design, and a Croatian historian tocheck the script for accuracy.ÂI will be casting Croatian actors in Croatia for thescenes that will be filmed in Croatia, and I will castCroatians/Croatian Americans in America for the scenesthat will be shot in California. My lead actor needsto be available for filming in both countries. Also,I will need many extras for a scene to be shot inCalifornia.ÂIf you think you might be able to help out or offerany leads, or if you are simply just interested andwould like to chat, please contact me. I will betraveling abroad at the end of the summer but will domy best to respond to all emails in a timely manner.ÂIn making this film and subsequent documentary, I amattempting to do what Croatians, for centuries, havebeen unable to do in the past. It is time to sharewith the world, not only our stories of trial andsuffering, but also the continued growth of and beliefin our hopes, our dreams, and the magnitude of ourhearts. May peace be with all of you.ÂI am fondly yours,Brenda Brkusiccrofilm2003@yahoo.comÂÂ

We now present to you the closest thing we have found to actually traveling there. When you view these photographs by acclaimed artist Milena Soree, we guarantee that you will feel as if you had actually stepped through the lens of her camera and onto the beach. You will feel the sun beating down on you,    be able to smell the salty sea air, and feel the stones beneath your feet. Look out to the glimmering blue sea and see the stark white line of the mountains carving their designs into the sky, as well as the varying shades of the red-tiled rooftops in seaside towns and villages…The splendor and magnificence of the Dalmatian Coast is expertly captured by artist Milena Soree in these original photographs. Memories are fleeting, but a photograph has the ability to capture a moment in time that lasts forever. When you purchase one of Soree's photographs, you can actually "own" a bit of the Dalmatian Coast for yourself. Photographs are limited edition and are original. All photographs are matted, signed and numbered by the artist.

ÂÂAbout 6 months ago, I began working with Dr. Matko Marusic of theUniversity of Zagreb to assist Croatian high school students who wishto spend 2 to 4 weeks visiting the U.S. In fact, we established abasic web page: http://croatianstudents.cjb.net. These visits havebeen extremely rewarding for both students and host families.Recently, Dr. Marusic contacted me regarding a Croatian collegestudent, Tihomir Matecevic, who would like to spend a month livingwith a U.S. family this summer. Although his English is weak, he iseager to learn. He comes from a relatively poor family in Slavonia, and now lives in Zagreb where he studies Physics. He is able to payfor his airline ticket, but is understandably short on cash and wouldlike to earn his keep and a little pocket money while here. Perhapsthe ideal situation would be a family who could use help around thehouse caring for children or the elderly or with general housework oryard work.If you or someone you know is interested in hosting Tihomir or insimply learning more, please contact me at joe_misurac@bigfoot.com.Please pass this message on to others as well. Hvala vam.

ÂNenad, I'm looking for some one in Croatia who speaks English and who can help me look at houses to buy in old town Korcula. Ideally, it would be a "shell" that I can renovate to suit. I'll be in Zagreb from May 22-23 and in Korcula on June 3.ÂThanks--EdÂEdward_Damich@ao.uscourts.gov writes:Dear Ed,I am looking for you. Also, because I am getting a lot of real estate questions, we will create a classifieds section with the new design that will bring many homeowners from Croatia in touch with the Croatians around the world. Since French and English are buying properties along the coast, we should put some effort into introduction of old properties that have some meaning to us, that vibrates with collective memory and one that we will take care of as ours and not just another real estate. I had many offers from Croatia to setup an account with them, but I never had a moment to check them out. Reputation is important and the way people deal with their customers.
